Harold Williams

Harold E. (Gene) Williams Born December 28, 1925 in Washington, IN, passed away. He is the son of Floyd J. Williams and Clara Cecil (Barton) Williams. Graduated from Washington High School in 1944.

Upon graduation, entered the US Army and served as a corporal in the South Pacific on the Philippine Islands of Leyte and Mindanao where his unit received two bronze star medals.

Married V. Joyce Fulk on May 20, 1951 in Washington and had three children: Charles Williams, Janice Roach, and Cheryl Dawson (Larry), two granddaughters, Cristen Roach Roberts (Matt) and Abigail Roach Barker, and one great-grandson, Zachary Roberts, all of whom survive.

Worked as store manager for the Schiff Shoe Corp. being transferred around the state of Indiana as manager of stores in Terre Haute, Brazil, and Vincennes before being transferred to Indianapolis. He also served with Martin’s Bootery and as manager of Stride Rite Children’s Shoes in Washington Square.

He enjoyed fishing and playing bridge. Travelled and cruised to many countries.

He has been a member of Franklin Road Baptist Church since moving to Indianapolis in 1969. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.

Visitation will be Monday March 6th, from 1pm-3pm. His funeral will begin at 3pm, all at Flanner and Buchanan Memorial Park, 9350 E. Washington St.
