Harold L. McKinney A.K.A. as “Sonny” 89 of Indianapolis passed away January 11, 2019 Harold was born on July 21, 1929 in Indianapolis to Marion and Lillian Mabell (Matlock) Plake. Harold was a graduate of Washington High School and he served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Harold worked Uniroyal Tire then for Ford Motor Company on English Avenue retiring in September of 1993 as a job setter. Harold was a member of the Westview Christian Church. He was a very gifted athlete who loved all types of sports including football, baseball, bowling and basketball where he played all throughout high school. Harold even played on the Uniroyal basketball team after high school. Harold also gave of his time talent and treasure as he coached and mentored at Eagledale Little League as well as N.Y.A.A. He was also loved to sit and watch old movies. He was proceeded in death by his daughter; Kimberly Helvie and his sisters; Viola Bloxson and Lila Mae Coburn. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday January 15, 2019 at Flanner Buchanan-Speedway at Noon with calling one hour prior to the service. Harold is survived by his wife; Carolyn I. (Smith) McKinney of 62 years, their children; Kevin (Pam) McKinney, Kathy Easton and Keith McKinney and 4 grandchildren; Dane (fiancee Samathana Figg) VanPelt, Taylor Helvie, Hayley (Jonathon “Jon”) Thomas and Alex Helvie. Memorial contributions may be given to either the American Heart Association or the Fr. Flanagan Boy’s Home 14100 Crawford St. Boys Town, NE 68010.
