Harley Glenn Walton

Harley Glenn Walton, 91, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at Life’s Journey Hospice with family beside him.
He was born to parents Burness Walton and Delsie (McMahel) Walton on December 24, 1927 in their Orange County Indiana home.
Harley graduated from English High School in 1945 and Indiana Central Business College. He was married to Joyce Lee Speedy in November 1947 until her death in February 1992. Harley is survived by children Judy (Terry) Savage, Jeffrey Walton, Ronald (Ruth) Walton, grandchildren Chris Savage, Reuben (Heather) Walton, Leah (Micah) Jewell, Reece Walton, great-grandchildren Braydin Perry and Annabelle Walton, and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Wendell Clair Walton and loving friend of over 25 years, Rosemary Green Terhune.
Harley served in the Marine Corp during the Korean War and was honorably discharged as a Sargent in 1954. He retired in 1992 after 35 years from Reilly Industries in Indianapolis where he was an Accountant and Traffic Manager (logistics). Harley was a long time member and volunteer at Wesley United Methodist Church, Boy Scout leader and tax preparer for senior citizens.
Harley’s love of travel and the outdoors was well known and he had visited 48 states, Canada and Mexico. Travel with his young family included tent camping and visiting relatives. He later took vacations with his wife, her sisters and husbands, where he served as travel agent/driver. For the past 25 years he traveled with Rosemary, visiting many states and relatives.
Most of all, he was a kind, generous man who loved his family, the Green family and his friends.
Visitation will be held at Flanner Buchanan – Speedway, 2950 N High School Road, Indianapolis, on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 from 4-8pm. Additional visitation time will be held on Wednesday, October 23 from 10:30-11:30am. Services will be held at 11:30 am at Flanner Buchanan – Speedway.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to American Heart Association.
