Gunter John of Indianapolis entered eternal rest on October 22, 2018 at the age of 87.
He was born June 7, 1931 in Germany to the late Helmut and Emma John.
The oldest of several siblings, he was the first of his family to come to the United States in 1957. His first priority when he arrived in New York was eating his first American cheeseburger. He spent 25 years as an engineer for RCA before becoming the co-owner of JS Engineering where he worked with his son Roger for 10 years. He was member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. His passions included cars, golf, bowling but most of all his family. He will be remembered by his sons as the Best Dad and by his grandchildren as their Opa.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years Dora John; sons Roger John, Richard John (Jill), and Robert John (Rebecca); grandchildren Jaci John, Ryli John, and Reagen John. He was preceded in death by his grandson Robert Gunter John.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 26 from 10 AM to 12 PM with Funeral Services beginning at 12 noon at Flanner Buchanan – Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite), 9700 Allisonville Rd, Indianapolis. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
