Grace Peters passed away January 18, 2025. She was born and raised in Cambridge, NY to John and Svanhild Johannesen, first generation immigrants from Norway. She was a true child of the 60’s, rebelling in miniskirts and running away to marry her true love, Donald Bertrand Peters. Together, Grace and Don raised two boys, first in Greenfield, MA and later in Zephyrhills, FL.
In her late 30s, Grace graduated from Pasco Hernando Community College with a 4.0 GPA. It was one of her proudest accomplishments, as she did it while being diagnosed with a life-altering disability. This shortened her ability to work, but not her ability to enjoy the small things. She was a force to be reckoned with at Monopoly. She crocheted, sewed, and spent hours poring over Sudoku, puzzles, or potting plants.
Grace lost the love of her life, Don, in 2005. She is also preceded by her parents, John and Svanhild Johannesen, a brother, Glenn Johannesen, and a newborn son, Adam. Grace will be missed by her family: her children, Eric and Patti Peters (grandchildren, Elanor, Aldrin and Gwyneth) and Matthew and Katherine Peters (granddaughter Elizabeth), her surviving siblings, Linda Bernardo (husband, Tommy, deceased), Roy Johannesen (wife, Carla), John Johannesen, and her aunt, Thelma Rongved.
Grace taught us that even the most simple life is wholly and dearly loved by God. She will be remembered at a family gathering that will be held in Florida at a later date.
