Gloria Dianne Armitage, 83, of Indianapolis passed away on April 24, 2022. Gloria was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on December 21, 1938 to the late William and Hazel Blackwell.

While her children were growing up, Gloria was primarily a stay at home mom.  When her children were older she began working for Warren Township schools.  In 1989 she began working at Lowell Elementary as an instructional assistant and later as a substitute teacher until retiring in 2005.  Throughout her life she always made time for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, providing many loving holiday memories at “Grandma’s House.” 

Gloria was dear to many hearts, and she will be missed sorely by all the lives she has touched.

She is survived by her loving children, Jennifer Spivey, Lynda Henderson (Brian), Sam Armitage (Dawn), Amy Armitage, Ben Armitage (Roxanne), Jeremiah Armitage (Jessie) 16 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David Armitage; her brothers William, Raymond, and Howard Blackwell, her sister Loretta Birkle; and her grandson Matthew Spivey.

A visitation will be held on Friday, April 29, 2022 at Flanner Buchanan—Washington Park East, 10722 E Washington St. from 4PM-8PM. A funeral service will follow the next day, Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 10AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Gloria will be laid to rest in Washington Park East Cemetery

Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Humane Society of Indiana, St. Jude’s, and the American Cancer Society.
