Glennis Boyd

Glennis Boyd, 84, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on September 28, 2020. She was born June 29, 1936 in Glenmary, Tennessee to Orville and Juanita Lackey.

She was a proud 1954 graduate of Sunbright High School in Tennessee. In 1955, she moved to Indiana to be with her sister. That same year she met the love of her life, Eugene Boyd, in an alley in downtown Indianapolis. Though it doesn’t sound romantic, it was love at first sight for the pair. They were married just a few months later in December 1955. They spent 60 beautiful years together and remained deeply in love at the time of Eugene’s passing.

Glennis enjoyed yardwork, especially working in her flowers, crafting, visiting Goodwill, and studying Genealogy.  She also loved fishing, going to yard sales for antiques, collecting Boyd’s Bears and cookie jars, and riding in fast cars. She was a fan of the Indianapolis Colts and racing. The most important thing to Glennis was always family; she was a big-hearted Christian lady who loved her family fiercely. Glennis was independent, stubborn, spunky and knew how to stand her ground. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy and will be missed greatly by those who were blessed enough to meet her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Juanita; husband of 60 years, Eugene Boyd; siblings, Raymond, Gladys, and Amos “Red”. Surviving to carry on her legacy are children Kenny (Gracie) Boyd, Carol (Doug), Roger (Deanna) Boyd, Anna Marie (Dave) Stephens; siblings, Kitty Smith, Geneva Cebula; grandchildren, Courtney, Tara, Dana, Katie, Jonathan, Jared, Krista, Jami, Jenica, Ricky, Elizabeth; 17 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; her Morkie, Gunny; as well as a host of extended family and friends who loved her dearly.

All are welcome to visit Thursday, October 15, from 12noon-1pm at Flanner Buchanan – Floral Park, 425 N. Holt Road, Indianapolis, IN 46222. Services will take place at 1pm at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Floral Park Cemetery immediately following services.
