Gladys Clare (Chojnacki) Pfeifer, 84, passed away in Indianapolis on March 16, 2023. She was born on February 25, 1939 in Brooklyn, New York, the second child of Joseph John Chojnacki and Frances Lucy Bielen.
She attended St Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing in Brooklyn, New York and graduated in 1960 as a Registered Nurse. She married William (Bill) Pfeifer on September 2, 1961 at St. Michael’s RC Church in Brooklyn, NY. She moved from Brooklyn to West Lafayette, IN the same year and then to her final destination in Indianapolis, IN where she became a faithful member of St. Monica’s Church.
Throughout her calling as a nurse she served others by working or volunteering at Covenant House in California, St. Vincent’s Hospice, foster children from St. Elizabeth’s, St. Vincent DePaul and many other organizations within St. Monica and surrounding areas.
Gladys is survived by her beloved husband, William (Bill) Pfeifer, her, daughter, Elizabeth Pfeifer (Dave Morgan Jr.), sons, Mark Pfeifer (Rebecca), John Pfeifer (Michelle) and Matthew Pfeifer (Marissa Reich), and her sister, Eileen Frances (Cindy Chojnacki) Correll.
Cherished grandmother of 12, Stephanie, Alex, George, Grace, Alex, Caleb, Jacob, Arabella, Ben, Sarah, Robby and Anna and great grandmother to Arabella, Austin, Aamiyah and Adrian.
She is preceded by her parents, brothers, Robert (Bob) Chojnacki, Father Gerald (Jeff) Chojnacki, S.J. and son, Robert Pfeifer (Mindi).
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. EDT Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park North, 2706 Kessler Blvd West Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46228. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to American Cancer Society in honor of Gladys.
Funeral services will be at 12 p.m. EDT Thursday, March 23 at St Monica Catholic Church (6131 Michigan Road, Indianapolis, IN 46228). A second visitation will be at 11 a.m. EDT Thursday, March 23 at St Monica Catholic Church. There will be a live stream available which can be found on St. Monica Indy Facebook account.
