Gisela Margot Shepherd (Gisi), of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at 79 years of age. She lived on the northeast side of Indianapolis in her family home for over 50 years after immigrating to the United States at the age of 20 from Nuremburg, Germany.
Gisela was an in-home childcare provider for over 40 years – caring for children was perhaps one of the greatest prides of her life. The children she cared for continued to return to the area to visit Gisela and share the journey of their lives. Gisela also enjoyed traveling back home to Nuremburg to spend time in her beautiful homeland with her family and friends. She also enjoyed bargain hunting and has taught all of her children how to find the best deals, save, and be smart with their money. She also was very fond of her beloved cat, Turtle.
Gisela is survived by her six children Richard Davis, Cheryl Dunbar, Lisa Tschider, Regina Minor (Victoria), Michele Pellicone (Gregg), and Natalie Needham, her sister, Heidi Wills (Bernard), her brother, Dieter Boessenecker (Jing), and her nine grandchildren, Melissa, Mark, Michael, Kirstie, Derek, Jake, Calvin, Sam, Gabe, and many other family members, loved ones, and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Margot Boessenecker, father, Wilhelm Boessenecker, and her stepdaughter, Brenda (Shepherd) Schuppe.
A memorial service in celebration of Gisela’s life will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Oaklandon, Indiana. Visitation at 10am, memorial service at 11am, and burial immediately following the memorial service at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Little Red Door of Indianapolis, Indiana.
