Gertrude "Marie" Poynter

Gertrude Marie Poynter passed away on July 14, 2022. She was born on February 16, 1956, in Indianapolis, Indiana to her parents Elsie and Mary Jaggers.

Marie was the only girl out of 5 children, so she had 4 brothers that wouldn’t hesitate to protect her while she was growing up. Later in life, Marie met her future husband, Gary Poynter, and they were married for 48 years and had two beautiful children.

Marie worked at Kroger for over 30 years. She enjoyed being able to help people, no matter who it was. She was known by her family as a loving, kind, and caring individual. Some of her favorite hobbies include cooking, playing cards, and travelling. Some of her families’ favorite memories are travelling with Marie to Hawaii and the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee. Marie was a person that loved to be on the go.

Marie is survived by her loving husband, Gary Poynter; her children Karie Cook, Gary Poynter Jr. (Jodie); her siblings David Jaggers, Richard Jaggers, Ray Jaggers; and grandchildren Bailey Rusk (CJ), Taylor Cook, Danielle Bechert, Dennis McGill; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in passing by her parents and her brother, John Wayne Jaggers.

Visitation will be on Saturday, July 23, from 11am to 1pm at Flanner Buchanan – Memorial Park, 9350 E. Washington Street Indianapolis, IN 46229. The funeral service will begin at 1pm. She will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery.
