It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Geraldine Slone, of Knott County, Kentucky, on February 27, 2024, at the age of 84 years. Born on March 18, 1939, Geraldine lived a full and vibrant life characterized by her unwavering love for her family, her passion for adventure, and a kindness that touched all who knew her.
Geraldine was a cherished mother to Tim Smith, Gary Smith (2011), and Cherisa K. Johnson. She was a guiding light in their lives, instilling in them values of love, resilience, and the importance of family. Her wisdom and warmth will be dearly missed but forever remembered.
Geraldine was not only a devoted mother but also a loving wife to Marvin G. Slone, whose memory she cherished dearly since his passing in 2009. Their partnership was a testament to enduring love and mutual respect, setting a beautiful example for those around them.
A beloved granny, her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Kelly Smith, Danielle Smith, Rick Smith, Charles Smith, Stefani Smith, Amanda Hodge, Isabell Steiner, and Ethan Wallace. Geraldine's spirit of adventure and love for life was infectious, greatly influencing her grandchildren, with whom she shared countless cherished moments and family vacations.
As a great-granny, Geraldine's joy multiplied with the arrival of each great-grandchild: Tyler Banister, Aubrey Banister, Aryann Smith, Evey Hodge, Nova Williams, Roman Williams, and Nolan Hodge. Her love, stories, and laughter will be a lasting presence in their lives, guiding them as they grow.
Geraldine had a love for traveling, finding treasures while yard shopping, and, most importantly, spending quality time with her family. She believed in living life to the fullest and made sure her children and grandchildren saw the beauty of the world through her eyes. Her adventurous spirit and unconditional love have left a lasting mark on her family, inspiring them to explore, cherish every moment, and love unconditionally.
Services to honor the life of Geraldine Slone will be held at Flanner Buchanan-Washington Park East on March 6, 2024. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM, providing an opportunity for friends and family to pay their respects and offer condolences. A heartfelt service will follow at 1:00 PM, where cherished memories will be shared and Geraldine's life celebrated. Following the service, entombment will take place, marking her final resting place surrounded by the love of those she held dear.
