Ms. Geraldine Patterson-Browder, was born on July 27, 1937, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Frank Patterson and Velma Jones-Patterson who both precede her in death.
At the age of eleven, Geraldine lost her father to Leukemia, leaving her to be raised by her mother, with whom she dearly adored and shared a very close bond. Velma instilled in Geraldine the importance of having a relationship with Christ. Geraldine accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior joined and baptized at Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend Daily.
Geraldine attended elementary school at school #63. She completed 9th grade at George Washington High School but would go on to complete and receive her high school diploma from Chrispus Attucks High School.
Geraldine gave birth to five loving children that meant the world to her.
For many years she was employed at Central State Hospital as an Attendant for those dealing with mental health challenges. She then went on to retire from IUPUI as a supervisor in the hospital supplies department.
In her leisure time, Geraldine enjoyed family and friends, gatherings at her home for special occasions, and Friday night card games. She enjoyed time at the casino with her daughters; the love of fishing which she shared with her son Antonio; grocery shopping with her son Prince; and car rides from one side of town to the other with her daughters.
Geraldine Patterson-Browder departed this life on Wednesday, January 14, 2021, at the age of eighty-three years, five months, and eighteen days. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Browder, whom she enjoyed thirty-four years of togetherness, and great-grandson, Keiwawn Drain.
She leaves to cherish her memory five children, Denise (James) Davis, Laurie Buckner, Tonya Burden, Antonio Burden, and Prince Patterson; four grandchildren, LaTonya (Keith) Drain, Timothy Buckner, Micah Broner, and Gabrielle Burden; great-grandchildren, Anthony Turner, Dawawn Davis, Keimar Drain, and Timothy Buckner; great-great-grandchildren, Imani Davis, Dawawn Davis Jr., and Rome Davis; cousins, family and friends.
Geraldine’s unconditional love, support, and guidance will never be forgotten. Your dedication to your family and friends are everlasting. You taught us and led by example until your last breath. Take your rest Queen, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many. Come and share your Master’s happiness!” Matthew 25:21. Love your children, grand, greaet and great-great-granchildren. We are the seed of Geraldine Patterson-Browder!
