On Monday, August 29, Gerald “Jerry” T. Andrews, loving husband of Kate Andrews, passed away at the age of 80.
Jerry was born on August 13, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, to Norman and Julia (Peltz) Andrews. He was raised in Chicago, graduated from St. Michael High School, and attended Loyola University. On May 13, 1972, he married Kathleen (Kate) Landis, and moved to Indianapolis. Indianapolis has been his home for 50 years (although always a Chicagoan in spirit), where he worked as a real estate appraiser. They raised one daughter, Kristin Leigh (Eric) Waterman.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father Norman and his mother Julia. He is survived by his wife Kate, his daughter Kristin, son-in-law Eric, granddaughter Izabella, his sister Audrey and brother Norman.
His immediate and extended family were very important to him. He treasured his large Chicago family, with all the aunts, uncles and cousins, and likewise loved spending time with his nieces and nephews.
Jerry’s quick, sometimes irreverent, wit lasted even through his illness. In his early years he enjoyed scuba diving and skiing, and in later years fishing, boating, anything and everything Kristin was involved in, all things Izzy, watching the Colts games with friends, and in particular his weekly attendance for “Bad Pizza Friday” with his buddies. In essence, he loved having fun, enjoyed his family and friends, and making others laugh. A life well lived!
