Gerald D. Bonebrake, 85, of Indianapolis, passed away August 4th, 2024. He was born May 14th, 1939, in Danville, Illinois to parents George and Jane Bonebrake.
He married the love of his life, Peggy (Dicken) Bonebrake. They shared many wonderful years together. Peggy passed away June 2004.
A very hard worker, Gerald worked at Western Electric/ATT until retiring in 1989. He and his wife co-owned B&S Janitorial Service, until retiring in 2001.
Gerald was strong, devoted family-man. He enjoyed camping trips with his family to their favorite spots, cruising around on his golf cart and boating. Gerald was an incredibly talented woodworker. His collection of clocks, bird houses, and even wooden people, are intricate works of art. He built many pieces of furniture, including new kitchen cabinets, for his loved ones’ homes, and the cradle his grandbabies used. Gerald was a fan of the Colts and the Pacers.
He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his children Robin (Greg) Swingle, Brenda Shaw, and Dennis Bonebrake; grandchildren Stacy (Yancy), Jaime (Nick), Peggy (Zac), Amanda, Shawnda (Josh), and Trent; 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; 2 nieces and 1 nephew; and his dog Snuggles III.
Gerald is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Peggy; his son Jerry Bonebrake; and his brothers Melvin and Donald Bonebrake
Visitation for Gerald will be Friday August 9th, from 11-1pm, at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East. His service will begin at 1pm. He will be laid to rest with Peggy at Washington Park East Cemetery.
A reception for family and friends will be held afterwards at Robin Swingle’s home (12105 Old Orchard Dr, Indianapolis, 46236) for food and fellowship.
