Georgiann "Georgie" Greven, 97, of Carmel, Indiana, passed away on September 25,2023. Born on March 29, 1926, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Georgie was known for her kind and thoughtful nature, as well as her wicked sense of humor, reminiscent of the beloved Betty White. She had a deep devotion to her faith and attended church every Sunday.
Georgie was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and went on to pursue higher education at Mount Mary. With a degree in Journalism, she had a passion for storytelling and the written word. However, Georgie's most cherished role was that of a stay-at-home mom, where she dedicated her time and energy to her family.
In her free time, Georgie pursued a variety of hobbies that brought her joy and fulfillment. She had a love for weaving, finding solace and creativity in the intricate patterns she created. A founding member of Settlers, Georgie also had a keen interest in historical re-enactments, particularly those centered around the early settlers and the old Fort Wayne reconstruction. She would immerse herself in these events, demonstrating weaving and candle making, embracing the spirit of the past and sharing her knowledge with others. Additionally, Georgie was an avid reader.
Georgie will be deeply missed by her surviving children, George, Mike, Kathy (Kate), and Matt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed, and her son, Mark. Georgie leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a strong sense of family.
The Greven family invites friends and loved ones to join them in celebrating Georgie's life at her memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Georgie's name to a charity of your choice. Georgie's memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
