Georgia P. Geroulis Derziotis, 83, fell asleep into the Lord on April 15, 2019. She is the daughter of the late Demetrios and Eleni Geroulis of Steno, Tripolis, Greece. As a young girl, Georgia was trained in Greece as a master seamstress. She brought that expertise with her when she immigrated to the U.S. in January, 1963. She began her career as a seamstress with Strauss Department Store and subsequently opened and operated Madison Tailors on Indy’s southside for 40 years. In addition to her tailoring business, Georgia and her late husband, Pete, co-founded the Acropolis Restaurant, also on Indy’s southside.
The typical Greek yiayia, Georgia’s 3 grandchildren were the center of her universe. She was a devoted Greek Orthodox Christian and a member of Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church, Indianapolis, and Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Carmel.
Georgia is preceded in death by her husband; Pete, and brother; Spiro Geroulis. She is survived by her children; Janet Derziotis, Mike (Tonya) Derziotis, grandchildren; Peter, Georgianna and Sophia Derziotis, sisters; Mary Kostarides, Stacey Apostoles, brothers; George Geroulis, Gus (Kathy) Geroulis and several nieces and nephews.
