George W. Wood

George Wood, age 96, passed away October 15 in the comfort of his home.

He was the born in Cincinnati to Katherine and Al Wood, attended both Xavier High School and Xavier University. He was a Veteran with the 82nd Airborne.

He is reunited in heaven with his wife Peggy, son Larry, grandson Keith Allen, his 3 sisters and 5 brothers, and his parents who preceded him in death.

Survived by 5 daughters Kathy Wood, Sally (Steve) Allen, Alice (Mark) Wessel, Sylvia (Chip) Brothers, Eileen (Michael) McMahan, 11 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild. 

His professional career was in sales and retail primarily with Ayr-Way and Service Merchandise stores. His favorite job was in retirement when he drove a school bus for Washington Twp Schools for 13 years.

The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to Community Hospice, especially Doug, Becca, Katie, Tanner and Chaplain Mike.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 4650 N. Shadeland Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46226, where visitation will be held from 9am until the mass time. Entombment will be in Washington Park East Cemetery.
