George Lawrence Harper

George Lawrence Harper 98 of Englewood, Florida formerly Speedway, IN. Mr. Harper was retired from Allison Transmission after 42 years. He built the Frostop, now known as Mug-n-Bun, on West 10th Street in 1956. He was a member of the Speedway Christian Church and a 67 year member of the Speedway Masonic Lodge #500, Scottish Rite, and Murat Shrine.  Mr. Harper was preceded in death by his wife of 75 years of marriage, Dorene, this past July of 2017. Calling will be held on Thursday, December 07, 2017 at Speedway Christian Church, 5110 West 14th Street in Speedway, from 10 to Noon with a Masonic Memorial Service at 11:30 AM, followed by the funeral at Noon at the church.  He is survived by his children; Nancy (Don) Greer, Cathy (Mark) Genung, Richard (Joyce) Harper; 5 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be given to either Speedway Christian Church Memorial Fund or Indiana Masonic Home Foundation Inc. Flanner Buchanan Speedway are handling arrangements.
