George Michael Frey

George Michael Frey, born 7/13/1934, died peacefully in his sleep on 3/31/2025. George was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Anna Frey, as well as his wife of 63 years, Catherine (Scanlon). George is survived by his brother John (Mary). George was the greatest support to his children Michael (Pia), Thomas (Kristin) and Colleen, loving grandfather to Ian (Bonnie), Ryan, Colin, Joseph (Katherine), Megan (Stephen), David (Anna), Amanda, Alyssa and Haley and dear great grandfather to Jayden, Trysten, Brysen, Alanna, Samuel, Benjamin, Jonathan and Charlotte. George was a lover of the arts, specifically classical music, classical literature and theatre. George spent many years studying history and was an avid “all Chicago” sports fan, enjoyed chess and card games, especially competitive bridge. George grew up in St Ignatius parish and lived most of his adult life in St. Margaret Mary’s parish in Chicago. George relocated with Catherine to central Indiana in 2019 and lived there his remaining years. George was an honest and humble man of integrity, whose greatest joy was spending time with his family. He will be remembered most by those close to him for his fighting spirit, his ability to always laugh no matter the circumstance, and his never-ending supply of candy for those who cared for him.

The viewing will be held at St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church, 1870 W. Oak St., Zionsville, IN from 10 am – noon, immediately followed by his funeral mass and burial service at Zionsville Cemetery, 10555 Zionsville Road, Zionsville, IN.
