George R. Alcorn

George Raymond Alcorn, 90, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully at home November 27th, 2024. He was born November 14th, 1934, in Burnside, Kentucky to parents Thomas and Ora (Cox) Alcorn. 

George graduated from New Castle High School, where he enjoyed playing football. 

In 1959, George married the love of his life, Carolyn. They shared 58 wonderful years together. Carolyn passed away in 2017. 

He worked as an electrician for over 50 years before retiring. 

George was a generous, loving gentleman. He was a devoted Cubs and IU fan. He had a gift for telling stories, and always enjoyed sharing his life experiences with his family. Being a selfless, family man was paramount to George, and took his roles as a husband, father, and grandfather very seriously. 

He is survived by his children Larry Alcorn, Sandy Muehl, Michael “Mike” (Tracey) Alcorn, and Thomas (Sydney) Alcorn; 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; one brother Horace “Edwin” Alcorn; and his beloved best buddy, Jax. 

George is preceded in death by his parents; wife Carolyn; daughter Diane Jackson; and seven siblings. 

Graveside services for George will be December 2nd, at 10:30am, at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East Cemetery. Guests are encouraged to gather at the funeral home entrance at 10:20am, so everyone can drive to the cemetery together.
