Gene Gale Evans, 88, of Zionsville passed away on April 26, 2021. He was born August 31, 1932 in Red Springs, North Carolina to Elmore and Icelene Evans.
He graduated from Laurinburg High School in 1950 and immediately enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served his country during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1954. He then enrolled at Indiana State University, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in teaching. He spent most of his career in management before retiring from Air-Way in 1980.
He was married for 61 years to the love of his life, Billie F. (Clark) Evans. They raised four daughters: Lynn, Lora, Cara, and Barbara. He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, playing golf, watching sports, and his weekly card games with friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 siblings, and two of his daughters; Lynn Evans and Lora (Evans) Catuhe.
He is survived by his wife, Billie Evans; daughters: Barbara L. Evans of Indianapolis, Cara L. Evans of Florida; granddaughter, Alise M. Evans of Florida; great-granddaughter, Madison L. Evans of Florida; and son-in-law, Bruno Catuhe of North Carolina.
A graveside service will be held on April 30, 2021 at Washington Park East Cemetery at 3pm.
