Gene Allan Scott

Gene Allan Scott, 85, of Indianapolis, IN., passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2021. Gene was born January 26, 1936 in Decatur, IL to the late Edward and Lenora (Huber) Scott.  Gene attended Millikin University and DeVry Institute, where he received his training in Telecommunications.  Gene, started his own radio station in Decatur, IL; had his own business before joining Comcast as General Mgr of the Muzak franchise. Gene ended his career with Allied Telecommunications, where he was the senior designer and was a major contributor to their success.

Previously, throughout his life, Gene was involved with many corporate and civic organizations in Indianapolis and most recently served as Past President of the Indiana Recording Club, and he was a faithful member of North UMC, where he served on various boards.

Gene was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend with a rich personality, gentle soul, a beautiful smile, and a charitable heart. He enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his beloved wife and supporting and encouraging her real estate business. They travelled extensively during their leisure. Gene loved tinkering with computers, photography, and spending time with his granddaughters, which he was affectionately known as “GranPo Gene”.

Gene is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Beverley (Barnes) Scott; one son, Brion Scott, step-sons, Jeffrey Hederick (Katherine) of Philadelphia, PA and Brett Hederick; sister, Shirley Naughton of Denver, CO; granddaughters, Grace, Lucy, Ellen, and Caroline Hederick.  A special thanks to the entire staff  at Anthology of Meridian Hills for their care and love for Gene.

A private service to celebrate Gene’s life will be held for family and friends at North United Methodist Church 3808 N. Meridian St. Indianapolis, IN 46208.
