Gavin Eric Vincent

May 1, 1992 — March 20, 2021

Indianapolis, Indiana

Gavin Eric Vincent died March 20, 2021, in Community Hospital North. He was born May 1, 1992, in Indianapolis, to David P. Vincent and Julie Ann Nason Vincent, both of whom survive. He was 28.

Gavin graduated from Lawrence Central High School and then went on to work as a server in various restaurants on the northeast side before pursuing warehousing and procurement. He was employed at Parker Hannifin in Fishers at the time of his death.

After somehow surviving a near-fatal auto accident in November 2016, Gavin fought his way back from serious internal and orthopedic injuries. As he was learning to walk again, he never complained or asked, “Why me?” He just surpassed every physical milestone over and over again with determination and grit. Gavin was smart, witty, funny, verbal and well-read.

While it appeared on the outside that Gavin had healed, he never had a day without pain and never desired to drive again. It was after his accident he decided he wanted to become an organ donor and made sure his family knew it.

Gavin was able to donate several organs. He had a caring soul and wanted to help anyone who needed it. This final act of organ donation only confirmed his selflessness. His tragic death can at least be mitigated by his willingness to help others in need of life-saving medical procedures.

He was recently engaged to the love of his life, Kerilyn Davis, and they had just set a wedding date. They were a loving and happy couple of three years. They enjoyed anything outside, especially camping, traveling and kayaking.

Gavin is survived by his parents, his grandmother Shirley Nason; half-brothers Matthew Vincent (Melanie Robinson), Venice, CA; Christopher Vincent, Coatsville, IN; Brian Vincent (Gina), Wasilla, AK; cousin Alexander Vincent, Telluride, CO; and several nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his three rescue cats, Dixie, Daisy and Leo. Gavin was preceded in death by his grandfather, William Nason, in January of this year. His grandfather was a World War II veteran and, because of that, Gavin became an avid WWII aficionado.

There was no calling and the burial was private.

In lieu of flowers, please remember Gavin by either a gift to the Indiana Donor Network or to a no-kill animal shelter of your choice. And he would encourage you to consider becoming an organ donor.
