Gary L. Hendricks, 67, of Indianapolis, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Sunday December 18, 2022, after a 2.5-year cancer battle. Gary was born on April 11, 1955, to his biological father, David A. Hendricks; raised by his mother Barbara F. Floreancig (Ackerman) and his stepfather Theodore D. Floreancig, in Speedway, Indiana.
Upon graduating from Aviation Training Academy Gary spent his career working in commercial aviation as a mechanic and eventually an inspector. During his time in aviation, he worked for American Trans Air (ATA), FedEx, and most recently AAR, where he retired early at 62.
In 1987 Gary married the love of his life Linda (Fine) Duncan. Gary had one son Christopher Hendricks, and two stepsons Nicholas (Silvia) Fine and Damon Fine. Gary also was a proud grandfather of 6.
In his free time, Gary mastered stained glass. He loved to travel, to pilot hot air balloons, tinker with anything that had a motor, and to watch/collect movies. If you ever wandered into an Irish pub, chances are you would find Gary. He loved a good Guinness and some Jameson.
Gary is survived by his wife Linda; their children Nicholas (Silvia), Damon, and Christopher; his siblings Denise (Dave Tomasch) Spaulding, Melissa (William) Parsons, and Steven (Melissa) Hendricks; and his 6 grandchildren.
Gary ultimately lost his battle with kidney cancer. The Hendricks Family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Sridhar Bolla and the infusion team at Hendricks Regional Hospital, The Mayo Clinic, and Dr. Chad Reichard from Urology of Indiana.
In his memory, donations can be made to the Heroes Foundation, a local Indianapolis based cancer organization that Gary was involved with at www.heroesfoundation.org.
