Gary L. Foster, affectionately known as "Frosty," passed away September 21, 2024, in Brownsburg, Indiana, at the age of 62. Born September 17, 1962, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Gary was married to his wife Debbie 41 years, and they had a wonderful life together and loved each other deeply. Gary led a life marked by dedication to his work, love for his family, and a vibrant sense of humor.
Gary enjoyed a distinguished career as the Shop Foreman (Mechanic) at Earth Resources Excavating and spent an impressive 41 years as the Shop Foreman at the Snider Group in Zionsville, Indiana. His commitment to his craft was evident throughout his professional journey and left a lasting impact on his colleagues and the community he served.
An avid enthusiast of classic cars, Gary found joy in rebuilding them. He owned two classic vehicles, devoting much of his time and energy to working on these cherished projects. His hobbies were a true reflection of his passion and skill.
Gary's family was of paramount importance to him. He is survived by his beloved wife Debbie Hall Foster, his daughter Penny (Jim) Goolsby of Acton, IN, and his sons Brian (Cassie) Stephens of Avon, IN and Donnie Stephens of Danville, IN. He took immense pride in being a grandfather to Courtney (Sean) Martin, Brianna Stephens, and Brandon Stephens, and he was a great-grandfather to Logan Gonzales.
Additionally, Gary is survived by his brother Rick (Patty) Foster of West Virginia, his sister Rhonda (Danny) Kurt of Clermont, Indiana, and his sister Vickie Whitworth of Indianapolis, Indiana, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Tom and Hazel Foster, and his brothers Doug and Kevin Foster all of Indianapolis IN. Gary’s legacy lives on through the many memories he created with his family, including the time spent with his beloved dog, Chase.
A public viewing will be 4 – 8 p.m., Monday, September 30, 2024, and again Tuesday 10:30 – 11:00 a.m. October 1, 2024, at Flanner Buchanan – Speedway at 2950 North High School Road in Indianapolis. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2024. Gary will be laid to rest in a graveside service at South Mound West Cemetery at 505 Bundy Ave, New Castle, Indiana, at 1:30 p.m. that same day.
Gary L. Foster will be remembered not just for his impressive career or his passion for classic cars, but for the love he shared with his family and the joy he brought to those around him. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
