74, of Indianapolis, passed away September 23, 2019. He was born on July 24, 1945 in Indianapolis, Indiana as the son of George D. Hargis and Fannie Marie Deasy.

After high school, Gary went straight into the workforce and landed a job with General Motors, where he eventually retired from after 30 years. In his spare time, Gary enjoyed playing cornhole, washers, and boating. He was an avid bowler and was a part of a league with GM. He loved watching the Colts and spending time with family and friends. He was known as a jokester and always had a story to tell. Gary also loved spending time in Florida with Melanie, at their home away from home. Gary will be loved and missed by all who knew him.

Gary is survived by his wife, Melanie Hargis; children: Cary (Debi) Hargis, Ronald (Jill) Franklin, Corey (Tabitha) Hargis; step-son, Bryan Norcutt; grandchildren: Drew Hargis, Carly Hargis, Chase Franklin, Alayna Franklin, Sophia Kern, Zachary Norcutt, Aidan Norcutt, Carter Norcutt; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings.

A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, September 27, 2019, from 4-6pm at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46229.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Indiana Chapter, 11550 North Meridian Suite 115, Carmel, IN 46032.
