Indianapolis, Indiana – Frederick Uyeda, 86, passed away peacefully after being comforted by friends and family. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii to parents Alfred Uyeda and Betsy Tsumoto on July 14, 1937.
Fred attended Purdue University, graduating in 1961 with his master’s degree in electrical engineering. Afterwards, he answered the call and enlisted with the United States Army where he served honorably until 1963.
When you walked into Fred’s house, two things would stand out to you. First, he loved to have the news on. Fred wanted to know what was happening. Second, his love for snacks, especially Chex Mix. He could be found relaxing by watching baseball, listening to jazz, or playing as much golf as he had a chance to.
A kind man, Fred was reserved until it mattered and then you would know his opinion. He sincerely wanted to know about you and what was happening in your life because he very deeply cared. He adored his family and was deeply loved in kind.
In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his brother Charles Uyeda.
Fred is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Herndon, children Amber Elizabeth Mason and Jason Herndon Uyeda (Ailyn), grandchildren Yazmine, Dylan, Janine, Emma, Lucas, Ashley, Olivia, and Gianna; and great-grandchild Sebastian.
Funeral services will be held at graveside at Washington Park East Cemetery on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at 2pm.
