Fred J. Vivian

Fred J. Vivian passed away January 21, 2025, at Meadow Lakes Nursing Facility in Mooresville, Indiana. Fred was born in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky on May 6, 1938. Fred was the first of nine children born to William and Florene Vivian. Fred married Anna Iker on April 18, 1957. Fred worked in Road Construction until he went into LinkBelt/FMC. Fred and Anna took up going to garage sales and started buying and selling on their own at garage sales and flea markets. Fred then began junking and scrapping. Fred liked to hunt rabbits, squirrels, and coons, so he always had beagles and coonhounds around. He would also take his coonhounds to “water races” where they would swim after a coon. Fred belonged to the Ace Coon Hunters Club.

Fred was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Anna Iker Vivian, his parents, William and Florene (Martin) Vivian, his sisters, Allene McClain, Thelma Mae Vivian, his brother, James Vivian, niece, June Richards Mai East, his great nieces, Nicole Elliott, Meliss Pintal Mai, his brothers-in-law, Glen McClain, Roy Myers, George Iker, Robert Iker, John Iker, sisters-in-law, Virginia Iker, Mina Iker, Lucy Stockdale, Lillie Story, Maudie Parker and Bessie Rader. 

Fred is survived by his brother, William C. Vivian, his sisters, Fay Myers, Helen (Roy) Richards, Eydie (Marvin) Nance, Myrtle (Mick) Spencer, his sisters-in-law, Nettie Centers, Nellie Bellamy, Mae Rose, his several nieces, nephews, his great nieces, nephews, and his great-great nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, 11:00am-1:00pm at Flanner Buchanan Decatur Township with the Funeral Service there immediately following at 1:00pm. Mr. Mark Osborne will officiate the service for the family. Fred will be laid to rest at West Newton Cemetery privately.
