Fred G. Dietz

June 21, 1927 — November 10, 2016

Fred G. Dietz, 89, of Indianapolis, passed away Nov. 10, 2016 with his family at his side. Fred was born June 21, 1927 in Indianapolis to Peter and Margaret (Stenger) Dietz. He graduated from Howe High School, attended Butler University and served in the United States Army. The ninth of ten surviving children, he was preceded in death by six older brothers and three sisters. This beginning to life's journey set Fred on course with having a genuine affection for others. He has had the best of neighbors. The first Friday of every month would find him at breakfast with a gathering of his oldest friends. From what started as a group of young marrieds at Englewood Christian Church to the later fellowship he found at Second Presbyterian Church his life was blessed. Perhaps Fred's greatest joy came from his involvement with the Indianapolis running community. Years of training runs, fun runs and road races gave him yet another family of cherished friends. Fred, for the majority of his professional career, was an area sales manager for Kar Products. This enabled him to “be outside” and someplace different every day. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Joann, son Scott, daughter Karla Kennedy (Bobby), grandson Eric Kennedy and many ,much loved ,nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers or contributions give someone a smile, a good word, a hug today and every day. Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Second Presbyterian Church, 7700 N. Meridian St., Indianapolis, IN. Arrangements handled by Flanner and Buchanan-Broad Ripple.
