Fred O. Buses Jr., 90, of Indianapolis, passed away January 22nd, 2025. He was born December 27th, 1934, to parents Fred O. Sr., and Elizabeth (Whitney) Buses.
Fred grew up in Indianapolis and graduated from Arsenal Tech High School.
He began his career at International Harvester in 1955 as a tool maker, and later became a tool designer. A hard worker, Fred worked for International Harvester for nearly 50 years before retiring.
Fred proudly served his country in the United States Army.
On August 27th, 1955, Fred married the love of his life, Kathryn Sue Kayser. They shared 66 wonderful years together. Kathryn passed away February 11th, 2021.
Fred was a strong, loving gentleman. Very skilled and handy, Fred loved to work with his hands, building furniture, improvements for his home, and working on his cars. He enjoyed being outside in nature and tending to his beautiful yard. He and his wife Katherine enjoyed sitting on the swings of the cozy pergola Fred built them. A true Hoosier, Fred cheered for the Colts and Pacers and kept up with collegiate teams. Fred enjoyed being social and regularly met up with his coworkers and past coworkers for breakfast.
He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Fred is survived by his children Brian (Linda Frances) Buses, Steven Allen Buses, Susan Cunningham, and Patricia (Steve) Purkhiser; grandson Vincent Bradbury; siblings Betty Bartlett, Ronald (Terry) Buses, Deloris Gosser; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife Kathryn; granddaughter Kathryn Bradbury; brother Edwin Buses, sister-in-law Virginia Buses, brother-in-law Gene Bartlett, and brother-in-law James Gosser.
Memorial visitation will be at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East, Wednesday January 29th, from 2:30-4:30pm, with his memorial service beginning at 4:30.
