Dr. Frank Daskalos passed from this earthly life into his eternal life on December 15, 2020, 3:30 AM, at Hoosier Village for Specialized Care, at the age of 84 years old.
Frank was born in Mason City, Iowa on November 3, 1936 to Helen (PappaJohn) Daskalos and John Daskalos. He grew up in Mason City and graduated from Mason City high school in 1955. He then attended North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) and continued his education at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa.
After graduating from Palmer, Frank moved to Indianapolis, Indiana where he bought a practice and began his successful career as a chiropractor.
Shortly after beginning his practice, Frank was recruited to be a judge for a Posture and Beauty Pageant. It was there he met the love of his life, Janet Cox. They were married in 1964 and had celebrated 56 years of marriage.
Frank was a very caring, compassionate and loving person. He also was a great storyteller and loved making people laugh. He always had a joke or a funny tale to share and made friends everywhere he went.
Frank truly enjoyed being involved in his community. He rang the bell for the Salvation Army, served in office for the Chiropractic Society, and was a photographer for the local fire department.
Frank also had a great love of animals. Every night he took carrots to Janet’s dressage horses, rescued an injured dove, which quickly became part of their family, and took his standard poodle, Martini, to his chiropractic office with him every day.
Frank and Janet both loved and supported Indiana Artists. They had acquired a beautiful collection of art work which they donated to the Indiana Art Center.
Frank loved being a chiropractor and helping his patients. He maintained his practice until 10 years ago when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.
He was cared for by his dedicated and loving wife, Janet, until 3 years ago when he moved into the Hoosier village for specialized care.
Frank is survived by his wife, Janet; two brothers: Nick Daskalos of Keokuk, Iowa and George (Susan) Daskalos of Mason City, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews who loved him and will greatly miss him.
He was preceded in death, by his parents, in-laws, sister in law (Sue Daskalos),
Brother-in-law (Michael Cox), and an infant niece and nephew.
