Frank Anthony Bush Jr

Frank Anthony Bush, Jr. passed away surrounded by his family on January 12, 2024. He was born on January 1, 1943, in Charlestown, Indiana, to Frank Anthony and Pauline (Roberts) Bush. He attended Charlestown schools, graduating in 1961. Frank studied education at Indiana State University (B.S., 1965), where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon. He also received graduate degrees from Western Kentucky University (M.A., 1967) and Indiana University (Ed.D., 1976), focusing on counseling and education administration. Frank’s accomplished education career spanned more than 45 years. He served in several roles, including high school economics/government teacher and coach, secondary school counselor, secondary administrator, superintendent of schools, and adjunct professor. For 26 years, he was executive director of the Indiana School Boards Association and served as its chief lobbyist in the Indiana General Assembly.    

Frank is survived by his wife of 48 years, Laraine, daughter, Kara Salazar (Roger), son, David Bush (Daniela), grandchildren, Dylan and Alan Salazar and Sofia and Valentina Bush, and brother, Donald Bush (Claudia) and family.

Frank lived a full life filled with love, family, travel, reading, and watching Indiana University basketball. He will be remembered for his wit, charm, intellect, giving nature, and feistiness. Frank was a passionate and dedicated educator and a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

A celebration of life will be held at Flanner Buchanan - Zionsville on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 3:00 pm with a memorial gathering preceding at 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm.
