Francis "Peter" Ford

Francis Peter Ford of Fishers, Indiana passed away surrounded by his loving family on May 7th, 2021 at St Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis at 81 years old. Peter will always live on in the hearts of his loving wife, Thelma, his children, James and Sarah and their families of Jean, Ciera, Rob, Christina and Abby. He will be remembered for his gentle loving spirit who touched so many lives around the world. Peter was born in Glasgow, Scotland of which he is very proud to call his homeland and was a member of the St Andrews Society. He went on to earn his Doctorate in Metallurgy from Cambridge University in England. From there he had a distinguished career working for several major companies and being recognized with a number of honors and awards. While he made great contributions in the sciences, he was loved by co-workers and friends for his humor, humility and grace. Peter was very lucky to have traveled around the world with “Thelly” for business or pleasure and have made many wonderful friends all across the globe. A little closer to home, Peter and Thelma lived in Rexford, NY since 1976 where they spent many happy years before moving to Fishers in 2018. Since then, they have made many new friends and have enjoyed their hobbies of gardening, traveling, fly fishing and dreaming about buying an Island Packet sailboat for that round the world adventure that Peter always had in mind.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11am on Saturday May 22nd at New Hope Presbyterian Church at 12550 Brooks School Rd in Fishers, Indiana. The family will receive friends following the service at the Embassy Suites in Noblesville, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, we request donations be made to the Indiana University School of Medicine.
