Francis John Feeney, 23,Indianapolis, went home to Jesus on October 3, 2017 in a tragic accident whileriding his bicycle near his home. He is survived by his parents, Rod and CharlaFeeney, his sisters Mary and Catherine (Alessandro Pia), and his nieceEvangeline. He is also survived by his cousins, aunts, and uncles: the Davies,Piggs, Courtneys, Feeneys, Cohrs, and Haleys.
Funeral services will beon Saturday, October 14 at 1 PM at Faith Church, 9125 N. College Avenue,Indianapolis, with visitation from 10 AM until service time. Burial will be atSalem Cemetery, Greenwood, Indiana. Arrangements are under the direction ofFlanner and Buchanan- Washington Park North.
Francis John was born atMethodist Hospital on October 7, 1993. He grew up on the Northwest sideof Indianapolis and attended the BRANCH and NOEAH home school groups. He wasinvolved in National Junior Tennis League, Northwest Sports Club, and the Lionsfootball team where he played as a defensive lineman. He participated inplay productions of “A Tale of Two Cities” and “Fiddler on the Roof” throughthe homeschool community.
After graduating fromhigh school in 2012, John moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 2013. There heattended and later interned for Desperation Leadership Academy where hebefriended many and deepened his faith. Francis John made disciples of manyother young people. He dedicated his life to Jesus Christ and expressed God’slove through prayer and community. Indelibly marked by his encounters with theLord, he ministered to many, faithfully investing in the lives of localstudents, friends, and mentors. He traveled to Trinidad and Haiti on short-termmissions trips, but he felt called to go back to the Midwest where his familyis from and where he still had deep friendships.
Returning toIndianapolis in 2015, Francis John began working in the craft coffee community.He worked first for Bee Coffee, and then for Quills Coffee, dreaming of openinghis own shop one day. Lately, after successfully competing in a number of latteart competitions, Francis John was learning how to roast coffee.
Thanks to his genuinelove and listening presence, Francis John deeply influenced his friends andfamily. Spending time with family was always an important priority to FrancisJohn: he looked forward to family reunions in South Haven, MI, GabbertChristmas gatherings, as well as camping trips with cousins. Remembered for hisgentle teasing, sense of humor, and surprise selfies on his friends’ phones,Francis John will be missed by everyone who knew him. Using his days off tohammock, journal, and enjoy coffee, Francis John allowed himself to enjoybeauty and rest. He also enjoyed attending Indianapolis Colts and Pacer gameswith his friends, most often Jared Enas. Since John’s father grew up in SouthBend, watching Notre Dame football games was also an important activity everyautumn.
Following hisinvolvement in Nora Christian Fellowship, Central Indiana Christian Fellowship,New Life Church (Colorado), and Soma, he most recently attended Midtown Church.At Midtown, Francis John was involved in a community group.
