Francis E. “Ted” Clarke, 96, formerly of Carmel, passed away January 3, 2021. He was born March 27, 1924, in Indianapolis, the son of the late Michael F. and Mary Elizabeth (Rikhoff) Clarke. He married Virginia “Ginny” (Boersig) Clarke on May 20, 1950. She preceded him in passing on October 15, 2015 after 65 years of marriage.
Ted proudly served in the United States Army in World War II, before being honorably discharged in 1945. He was a successful businessman, and an avid golfer and bridge player. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church and former member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
He is survived by two children, Michael (Christine) Clarke and Joanne Springrose; grandchildren, Brian Clarke, Jeffrey (Emma Wendt) Clarke, Catherine (Brian) Peterson, Julie (Nick) Bartolo, Gregory (Christina) Springrose; nine great grandchildren, Niels, Molly, Ryan, Sammy, Charlie, Evie, Oren, Benji and Maddy; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in passing by his siblings, Sister Marillac, DOC, Msgr. Thomas Clarke, Evelyn Price, Patricia DeVault, Sister Mary Joseph, DOC, William Richard Clarke, Joseph Clarke, Paul V. Clarke, John R. Clarke, and Marjorie Clarke.
A private entombment will take place at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery. A memorial mass will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be shared by visiting www.flannerbuchanan.com. Arrangements were entrusted to Flanner and Buchanan – Carmel.
