Frances Irene (Lynch) Wells 97 of Indianapolis passed away Tuesday August 22, 2023. She was born on July 25, 1926, in Oriole, Indiana to Dr. Otis Raymond and Stella Mae (Holmes) Lynch. Frances grew up in Southern Indiana and graduated from Marengo, Indiana High School. She attended Indiana University in Bloomington and was employed for several years by the Veterans Administration in Indianapolis. This is where she and her husband Paul Thomas Wells met at the Veterans Administration, and they were married for 45 years until his death in 1999. Frances was a member of Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, the American Legion Auxiliary Post #500, The Order of the Eastern Star, and Scottish Rite Widow’s Circle. She also served as a Red Cross Volunteer in the V.A. Medical Center and for 10 years Frances and her husband Paul were the Red Cross Representatives at the V. A. Medical Center. Frances also volunteered for the Alzheimer’s Association. The favorite hobby of Frances and Paul was ballroom dancing. They could often be found dancing in a ballroom in Indianapolis, Columbus, Chicago, and Cleveland. Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, her parents, Dr. Otis R. and Stella M. (Holmes) Lynch, her sister, Edith (Lynch) Clarida, and her son, Walter Wells. Frances is survived by her daughter Martha (Mark) Rhodes, her granddaughters, Stephanie Rhodes and Mallory (Hannah Jung) Rhodes.
