Foster Tudor

Foster Tudor, 82, of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, passed away peacefully at home with his wife, Gwen, by his side on May 7, 2017.

Foster was born to Harlan and Pearl Tudor on January 1, 1935, in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he and his sister, Nancy Lacy, spent their childhood. After attending Butler University Foster served in the U.S. Army from November 1955 to April 1958 in Würzburg, Germany, as a trumpet player in the 10th Infantry Division Band. Having taught himself German, he became the interpreter for the band. Foster often said the best time of his life was when he was stationed in Germany. Upon returning to the states Foster married Nell Ralph, and they had two children, Lisa and Amy. In the 1970s and 1980s Foster traveled the roads of Indiana and the surrounding states for 16 years as a salesman for Rubber, Inc., an automotive aftermarket company.

On September 17, 1980, Foster met Gwen Baugh and they were married one year later. During their 35-year marriage Foster and Gwen traveled a great deal, biked many miles, and skied many slopes. Foster spent many years playing hockey, running marathons, and riding his motorcycles. In 1989 Foster and Gwen made Steamboat Springs, Colorado, their home. Foster loved living in Steamboat and also loved working at Steamboat Ski Resort for 11 years. His friendly personality and keen sense of humor served him well as he greeted the skiers and riders and checked their lift tickets. He also enjoyed driving the shuttle bus for The Ranch, a condominium complex in Steamboat.

Foster is survived by his wife, Gwen Tudor; his sister, Nancy Lacy and her husband, Jack Lacy; his daughters, Lisa Tudor and Amy Thomas; his grandsons, Cody Thomas and Austin Thomas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Foster was preceded in death by his parents, Harlan and Pearl Tudor; his niece, Debbie Amy; and his first wife, Nell Tudor.

Family and friends will gather at 11:00 am at the Good Shepherd Chapel at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis, Indiana, to share fond memories of Foster on Saturday, May 20, 2017. In lieu of flowers Foster requested that any donations be made to Advocates Building Peaceful Communities, PO Box 771424, Steamboat Springs, Colorado 80477. Arrangements entrusted to Flanner and Buchanan – Carmel.
