FAIRLIE NAOMI FROST BROWN March 9,1922-April 19, 2020
Fairlie Naomi Frost Brown was born in Lawrence, IN, on March 9, 1922 to Benjamin Neil and Ellen Frost and passed away on April 19, 2020 at the age of 98 at Wyndmoor of Castleton, Castleton, IN.
Fairlie’s parents were divorced when she was young and Ellen and Fairlie moved to Terre Haute, IN in 1935. Fairlie married John C Helm in 1941 and they lived in Terre Haute, IN. They were divorced a year later. Fairlie’s mother, Ellen, married Fern Nolan and they moved to a farm in Berniece, IN. Visits to Ellen and Fern’s farm are cherished memories for the family.
On June 1, 1946 Fairlie married Jack Chapler Brown Indianapolis, IN. After their marriage, they adopted Beverly Ann Brown in 1949 and Douglas Chapler Brown in 1953. They were married for 71 years. Fairlie was a homemaker.
Fairlie worked at IBM in Indianapolis, IN, for a year in 1945. Fairlie was an accomplished Bridge player. She was member of Indianapolis Bridge Center for many years. She achieved Ruby Life Master as a member of American Contract Bridge League and played worldwide. Fairlie volunteered at the Crossroads of America working with the handicapped and at the Indianapolis Humane Society.
Fairlie was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Chapler Brown and their daughter Beverly Ann Brown Hineman. She is survived by her son, Douglas Chapler Brown (Karen Weldy), and grandchildren Elizabeth Hineman Simmons (Robert), Jay Hineman (Gretchen), Jack Hineman (Amy), Nathaniel Brown (Jelena), Emily Weakley and a number of great grandchildren. Cheryl Corbin has also been part of the family for over 30 years as friend and caretaker.
A private graveside service will be held at Flanner Buchanan, Washington Park North. Memorial contributions may be made to Brookdale Hospice or Indianapolis Humane Society.
