F. Michael Bothwell, 84, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed on November 22, 2023. Mike was born on May 16, 1939, in Detroit, Michigan to parents Richard and Genevieve Bothwell.
Mike was a 1957 graduate of University of Detroit High School and earned a degree in marketing from the University of Detroit in 1962. In 1963, Mike started his working career with the Detroit Diesel Division of General Motors. After General Motors merged Detroit Diesel with Allison in 1970, he was transferred to Allison Transmission sales. After assignment to New Jersey, Mike was promoted to increasingly responsible positions in field sales. Mike returned to Indianapolis and became the Marketing Manager for Allison in October of 1988, a position he held until his retirement in June of 1992. Thereafter, Mike held sales positions at several heavy equipment companies doing business throughout the United States and Europe, until 2011.
Mike was married to his loving wife, Janet, for 60 years. He was an active member of St. Gabriel the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Indianapolis, where he had many dear friends. Mike enjoyed going to casinos, meals with friends, reunions with his DDA buddies, and his many pets.
Mike is survived by his wife Janet; sons Kevin, Michael and Patrick; grandchildren Grace, Frank, Gavin and Evan; sister Nancy Enright; brother Richard and sister-in-law Marcia; sisters-in-law Linda Sommers and Pamela Clifford; and nieces and nephews Christopher Enright (Jane), Thomas Enright (Heather), Vincent Enright, Anne Bothwell (Kent Barker), Richard Bothwell (Jennifer Couch), James Bothwell, Korvin Bothwell, Maureen Collins (Ray), Katie Jones (Jeremy), Tammy Birgy (Jerry), Jennifer Thompson, Rene Stryjecki, and Jacqui Keegan (Patrick). Mike was preceded in death by his brother, Charles.
A memorial will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at St. Gabriel the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 6000 W. 34th Street in Indianapolis. Viewing at 10:00 AM and mass at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church.
