Ewing Oliver Shields, 90, of Indianapolis, passed away on April 14, 2018.

Ewing was born on December 23, 1927 in Scottsville, KY to the late Thomas and Alma Shields. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, and retired from General Motors. He was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church for over 25 years, and enjoyed camping, hiking, gardening, traveling, and taking daily walks with his beloved wife.

He leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Betty Jane Shields; children, Steven (Carla) Shields and Janice (Eric) Hopkins; grandsons, Zach, Kyle, Cody, Joshua, Scott; and great-granddaughters, Kalley, Kylin, Paizley; and sister, Iris Pruitt. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 6 siblings.

A funeral service will take place 1:00pm on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Flanner Buchanan- Washington Park East, visitation will be held 5:00-8:00pm on Tuesday and 11:00am-1:00pm on Wednesday.

Memorial contributions in Ewing’s honor may be made to Lighthouse Baptist Church, 6950 E Raymond St, Indianapolis, IN 46239.
