Everett K. Barnes, 85, of Avon, Indiana passed away January 26, 2020. He was born November 11, 1934 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Ora and Violetta Barnes.
Everett was drafted into the United States Military on September 23, 1957. He dutifully served his country, earning the Good Conduct Medal, until his honorable discharge on September 10, 1959. As a nation, we are forever grateful for his service. He married the love of his life, Geraldine Barnes, on January 16, 1960. The pair shared 55 beautiful years together and remained deeply in love at the time of her passing on February 10, 2015. He worked at the Christian Theological Seminary, graciously serving his community for 19 years until his retirement in November 1996. He was a Godly man, wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. His passing leaves an empty space in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to meet him; he was truly one of a kind.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ora and Violetta and loving wife of 55 years, Geraldine. Surviving to carry on his legacy are children, Sherry Barnes, Kevin Barnes, Thomas Barnes; grandchildren, Kevin Jr, Kristy, Karie, Caleb, David, Philip, Joshua, Julie, and Anna; great-grandchildren, Leon, Luke, Lestat, Loki, Logan, Dylan, Ellie, Parker, Gavin, Hailie, and Kelsie; as well as a host of extended family members and friends.
All are welcome to visit Wednesday, February 12 from 12-2 PM at Flanner Buchanan – Floral Park, 425 N Holt Road, Indianapolis, IN 46222. Funeral services will take place at 2 PM. Everett will be laid to rest at Floral Park Cemetery immediately following services.
