Evelyn Ruth Marshall Morris died peacefully on Friday May 12 at her home in Zionsville, IN. She was 92 years old. She is survived by her daughters Donna Tomlinson, Connie Steinhart, Nancy Roberts (John), and Rita Tiarks (Roland), her brother John A. Marshall (Carole), grandchildren Andy Tomlinson (Elaine), Tim Tomlinson, John B. Steinhart (Christy), and Joe Roberts, great-grandchildren Emily and Allie Tomlinson, and Jack and Frank Steinhart, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Robert, her parents G. Robert and Ruth Marshall, her son William Lee Morris, her siblings Virginia Bourke, Robert Marshall, and Betty Mowery, and her son-in-law John G. Steinhart III.
Evelyn was born in Indianapolis, IN but lived in Terre Haute, IN for most of her life. She worked for Indiana Bell, Martin’s Photo Shop, and the Indiana State University Financial Aid office. Evelyn was active in her churches, First Baptist and Maplewood Christian, which is now a campus of Maryland Community Church in Terre Haute. While a member of Maplewood, she served as interim Choir Director and was supportive of the Sonshine Center which she ran from January 1986 through January 1992 . She was also active in the PTAs of Cruft Elementary School, Sarah Scott Junior High, and Wiley High Schools and the Band Boosters at Sarah Scott and Wiley in Terre Haute. Evelyn was a talented seamstress and quilter. She made costumes for productions put on by the schools and her churches. She was always interested in learning something new and in gardening. Evelyn enjoyed playing the organ, which she took up in her later years. Following their retirement, Bob and Evelyn bought an RV and made many trips in it. They crossed the country several times seeing many sights and visiting relatives and friends along the way. Evelyn will be missed by many.
Visitation will be at Christ Lutheran Church Friday, May 19 from 9 am to 11 am followed by a memorial service at 11 am. Burial will be in Terre Haute.
