Evelyn Faye Sims, 89, of Indianapolis, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2019.
She was born on June 11, 1930 in Jackson County, IN to the late Harley and Dorothy (Houshour) Edwards. Evelyn married Earl Sims on August 7, 1954. She enjoyed trips to the beach, reading, spending time in her flower gardens and bird watching from her back patio. Evelyn was an avid shopper and loved a good bargain. She also enjoyed cooking and was famous for her Chicken ‘n Dumplings and Oatmeal Cookies. Evelyn cared for her own family, as well as the neighborhood children and stray animals in need.
She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Earl Sims; children, Gary (Carla) Hamilton, Regina Walters, Mike (Glenda) Sims, Jonathan (Prudence) Sims; grandchildren, Heath, Hillary, Melissa, Paul, Shelby, Landon, Piper; and great-grandchild, Paisley Faye. Evelyn is also survived by her brothers, Dean, Jim, Bobby, Floyd, and Steve. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Earl Lesle ‘Les’ Sims; sisters, Mildred, Marjorie, Mozena, Vella Mae; and brother, Larry.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2019 from 11am -1pm at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East with funeral services immediately following. Entombment will follow in Washington Park East Cemetery. Memorial contributions are encouraged to the American Kidney Fund at www.kidneyfund.org.
