Eva Lou (Woody) Wagers was born in Thornton, Kentucky on March 1, 1932 to Otto and Martha Sexton Woody. She exited her earthly tabernacle for a building of God, a house not made with hands on January 9, 2021 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana, being 88 years, 11 months, and 19 days of age. She was saved for 64 years, being born of the Spirit June 17, 1956. She was married to Rev. Walt Wagers in 1965, who preceded her in death April 9, 1982. She retired from the Roudebush VA Medical Center in 1997 and devoted much of her time to serving the Lord through various ministries of Hope Baptist Church, where she had been a member since 1980. She loved her Lord, her family, and her church. She was a virtuous woman, wonderful wife, loving mother/mother-in-law, devoted grandmother, enthusiastic cheerleader (at ball games), benevolent friend, a godly prayer warrior; and a gracious blessing to everyone whose path she crossed. She loved to give, and would always look for an opportunity to share the Gospel through a tract, testimony, or personal soul-winning. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 5 siblings. She is survived by one son: Pastor Stephen Neil Wagers, wife Kim, and grandson Noah, of Douglasville, GA. This small allotment of words can in no way encapsulate the life she lived or the legacy she left. But, God keeps good books and her “witness is in Heaven” and “record is on high.” (Job 16:19) She has gone where she longed to be, to a land where we’ll never grow old. Her earnest prayer and desire would be for you to meet her again on Heaven’s bright shore. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to New Genesis Baptist Church, 6986 Hiram Douglasville Hwy. Douglasville, GA 30134.
