Eva “Gayle” Sanders, 95, Zionsville, passedaway March 5, 2017. Gayle was born April 15, 1921 in Linton, IN, the daughterof Noah Arney and Eva (Day) Arney. A strong Christian woman, Gayle was along-time member of Salem United Methodist Church in Zionsville. She loved totravel and enjoyed taking cruises. Gayle had travelled to Alaska, Germany, theHoly Land, Greece, and the Caribbean, among other places. She enjoyed quilting,crocheting, doing needlepoint, working puzzles, and playing games. Gayle alsoenjoyed working in her yard.
She married Thomas F. Sanders on May 28, 1942 andhe preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, hersisters, Doris Clark, Rosemary Austin, Ruth Jester, and Evelyn Crandall, andher brother, William Arney. Gayle is survived by her children, Steven Sanders(Judy) and Janaan Hakes (Fred); her grandchildren Melissa Sanders, MichaelSanders (Tiffany), Jason Schleitwiler, Jeff Hakes (Robyne), Ryan Hakes, andJulia Miller (Charles); and by her 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 13 at 11 AM at Salem United Methodist Church, Zionsville. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 12 from 2-5 PM at Flanner and Buchanan- Zionsville. Burialwill be in Salem Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to Salem United MethodistChurch.
