Eunice Clayton Hughes

Eunice Clayton Hughes, 92, died January 23rd. She was born October 21st, 1925 in Jackson, MI to Paul and Onabelle Clayton.

She married John, the love of her life, in 1949 and they were married 65 years at the time of his death in 2014. Together they loved to travel, entertain in their home, and keep track of old JCPenney friends. They were loyal Indianapolis Colts and IU Hoosier fans.

Eunice’s passion was volunteering her time and energy to various charitable organizations in Indianapolis including the Boys Scouts of America, the ISO North Group, the 500 Festival,
Beta Beta Latreian, and the Easterseals Crossroads Guild, which she belonged to for more than 50 years.

Northminster Presbyterian Church was her place of worship for more than 60 years.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Green House Cottages of Carmel and the kindness and compassion of the professional caregivers of Cottage 6. The family would also like to thank the Community Home Health Hospice team.

Eunice was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. She is survived by two loving children – son David (Stephanie), grandchildren Brendan and Kristen, and daughter Joni.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Easterseals Crossroads.

A brief memorial service will be held Saturday January 27th at 2:00 pm at Flanner Buchanan-Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite), 9700 Allisonville Rd. A celebration of her life will follow.
