Eugene Dennis Konradi, 70, fell asleep in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 20, 2024.
Gene was born in Marshall, Minnesota to Elmer and Rosa Konradi. He was baptized as a child of God at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and became a big brother to his sister Judy in 1956. Gene met his wife, Donna Brandt, in Peoria, and they were united in holy marriage at Trinity Lutheran Church. Gene and Donna were blessed with 40 years of marriage and two children, Anna (Andy) Behrmann and Andrew (Boying) Konradi. Their blessings multiplied in recent years when they became grandparents to John and Ben, who quickly became the light of their grandpa’s life. Gene is survived by his wife, his children and their spouses, his two beloved grandsons, his sister, and many in-laws, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. He also leaves behind his much-loved poodle companion, Ted.
Growing up in Marshall, Gene attended Holy Redeemer Catholic School and Marshall High School, during which time he forged friendships that would help sustain him for the rest of his life. After graduating in 1972, he attended Brown Institute of Broadcasting before launching a career in broadcast radio that would take him to stations in Lincoln, Nebraska, Peoria, Illinois, and Indianapolis, Indiana.
Gene pivoted to sales in 1994 and worked in various types of media including television, cable TV and outdoor advertising. Gene and Donna permanently settled their family in Zionsville in 2002 and transferred their membership to Advent Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Gene loved music, sports, and spending time with family and friends. He cherished the time he spent with his grandsons, who could always count on their grandpa for a story, song, or surprise gift.
Visitation will be held on January 2, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm and January 3 from 10:00 to 11:00 am. Gene’s funeral service will be held on January 3, at 11:00 am with a committal service immediately following. Visitation and funeral will be held at Advent Evangelical Lutheran Church, Zionsville, IN.
Gene will be buried at Union Lutheran Cemetery in Zionsville, Indiana. Memorial contributions in his memory can be made to Legacy Hospice, 1119 N. Keystone Way, Ste 101A, Carmel, IN 46032 or Advent Evangelical Lutheran Church, Pastor’s Fund, 11250 N. Michigan Road, Zionsville, IN 46077.
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. We give thanks to God our Father through Jesus Christ, our Lord, for our brother Gene.
