Eugene "Gene" F. Yonts 54, passed away Monday, August 4, 2014 at home following complications from surgery. He was born April 3, 1960, in Indianapolis, to the late Eugene F. and Barbara A. (Coles) Yonts. If you met Gene, you liked him. It was that simple. He was serious and humble, often making those around him feel welcomed. As an account manager for Holt Construction, these qualities helped to build and foster positive relationships with his colleagues and customers. Gene loved camping, golfing, fishing and racing. He was an avid Indianapolis Colts and Cincinnati Reds fan. He enjoyed his yearly fishing trips with friends and family, the Indy 500, Colts games, and weekend trips to French Lick.
He married the love of his life, Janet, on March 12, 1994, in Emison, Indiana. He was extremely proud of his 3 children and often shared their accomplishments. He excelled as a father, husband, brother, uncle, co-worker and friend. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Janet (Schultz) Yonts; son, Nicholas Yonts; daughters, Katelyn (Scott) Trafford, and Kristen Yonts; sisters, Cheri O'Day and Jodi (Alan) MacDonald; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family members. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 8, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Flanner and Buchanan - Speedway . A service will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service, on Saturday, August 9. He will be laid to rest immediately following at West Ridge Park Cemetery. Due to allergies, we ask that flowers will be replaced with a donation to the Peyton Manning's Children's Hospital in memory of Gene. Link to donate: http://www.peytonmanning.stvincent.org.
