Ethel W. Walton, 94, of Greenfield, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2019.
She was born in Newcastle, England on May 6, 1925 to the late Thomas Richardson and Sarah (Armstrong) Storey. Ethel met her future husband during WWII while he was serving in the British Navy; they were married on December 20, 1949. They lived in England for many years where Ethel worked for the local pharmacy. They relocated with their young family to the United States in 1968. Ethel became very involved with several local clubs, the Garden Club, the Teapot Club, and the Daughter’s of the British Empire. She was a devoted volunteer with Community North Hospital for over 20 years. She enjoyed travelling with her family and friends and was active and independent until the last years of her life. Ethel will always be remembered for her humor and her passion for giving to others.
She is survived by her daughter, Sarah Wilson (Julie Wolfe); 5 grandchildren, Amber Walton (Zach Tolle), Perry Wilson, Holly (Sam) Canary, Kristen (Joe) Fetten, Jacob Walton (Patience Prosser); and great-grandchildren, Eli, Alex, Arieanna, Olivia, Colin, Ryan, Bella, Kyle, Tiny, Leah, Caroline, Jaeden. Ethel also leaves behind many close friends, including her best friend of 51 years, Ann Foster. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Leslie Walton; son, Colin Walton; brothers, Harry and Cecil Storey.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 14, 2019 from 10-1pm at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East with funeral services immediately following. Memorial contributions are encouraged to the American Cancer Society. Friends are invited to leave online condolences for the family at www.flannerbuchanan.com.
