Erwin Edward Deerberg

Erwin Edward Deerberg, 89, of Indianapolis, passed away on Friday October 25, 2019.

He was born on July 10, 1930 in Indianapolis to the late Edward Chris and Sophia L. (Schaekel) Deerberg.  Erwin was a graduate of Warren Central High School and served honorably with the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1951-1953.  He worked as a volunteer firefighter in Warren Township and in construction before taking on a position with International Harvester, currently Navistar.  Erwin dedicated 30 years of service to the company, retiring as a Foreman in 1994.  He enjoyed riding motorcycles, working horse shows and was a longtime member of St. Johns United Church of Christ.

Above all, his family was his greatest joy.  He is survived y his daughter, Deborah (Donn) Haag; son, David Deerberg; grandchildren, Julie (Matt) Garr, Leslie (Wayne) Adcock, Amanda Haag; great-grandchildren, Colton, Zoe, Hayden, Christina, Matthew; great-great-grandchild, Emmett.  Erwin is also survived by his beloved pets, Koda, Gypsy and Flicka.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2019 from 10am-12pm at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East.   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encouraged to the Indianapolis Humane Society or the Wounded Warrior Project.  Friends are invited to leave online condolences for the family at www.flannerbuchanan.com.
